Follow the official trezor.io/start workflow to initialise, secure and use your hardware wallet.
This page outlines the accredited steps to set up a Trezor hardware wallet safely. The official trezor.io/start flow guides you through connecting your device, installing firmware when required, creating or recovering a wallet, and confirming your backup. Follow each step carefully to ensure the integrity of your device and your recovery data.
A Trezor device (Model One, Model T, Safe family), a compatible computer or mobile device, and the official Trezor Suite or the guided web flow at trezor.io/start.
Plug the Trezor device into your computer or pair via USB-C/USB adapter according to your model. Open your browser and navigate to trezor.io/start to begin the official setup wizard.
If prompted, install the firmware offered by the official installer. Firmware installation is a normal first step for new devices and ensures the latest security updates are applied.
Choose a secure, memorable PIN on the device. The device will then generate a recovery seed (the backup); write this seed down on paper or a certified metal backup — do not photograph or store digitally.
Confirm the wallet in the Suite or guided flow and optionally move a small test amount first. Once confirmed, your Trezor is ready to manage and secure your crypto assets.
Protecting your seed and device is the fundamental security requirement. Never share your recovery seed, never enter your seed on a website or app, and only use Trezor Suite or the official trezor.io resources for sensitive operations.
If you suspect tampering, stop and contact official support before continuing. Keep firmware and Suite updated; updates include important security improvements.
